Dr. Carignan is a licensed psychologist who specializes in children and adolescents who present challenging behaviors. His career includes several years as a staff psychologist at the Philbrook Children’s Center in Concord NH, and several years as an associate with the C.L.E.E.R. Institute, also in Concord NH.
Dr. Carignan is known for his brief cognitive-behavioral therapy. He believes that young people present challenging behaviors, and that such behaviors often get in the way of their learning and development. He also believes that these behaviors get in the way of family harmony. His approach acknowledges the reality that young people are part of larger systems than themselves, and that they simultaneously influence and are influenced by families, peers, schools, and others.
Major insurance companies will pay for Dr. Carignan’s services, including NH Medicaid, BC/BS, CIGNA, United Behavioral Health, Anthem, Harvard Pilgrim and others. He also accepts requests for psychological evaluations from Court, DCYF, and DJJS.
